Canada’s recently elected Liberal government plans to legalize marijuana, but will supply be able to meet demand? Studies are suggesting no. In the first quarter of 20152,200 kg of medical marijuana was produced, with the average person consuming 1.1 grams per day. If 10% of Canadians continue to consume marijuana at this pace demand would skyrocket demanding the market to supply somewhere close to 1,425,600 kg per year. Just how the government expects to meet this growing demand remains to be seen.
